What the Hell is the matter in San Francisco?

An elite unit of U.S. Marines was to perform during the filming of a recruitment video on a San Francisco street during rush hour on the anniversary of 9/11. They were denied permission for the filming because San Francisco Film Commission Executive Director Stefanie Coyote cited "traffic control concerns". She said she would only allow filming if there were no Marines in the picture.

Was this because of liberal politics or was it just an issue of traffic control?

San FranSicko, as the city has been so aptly nicknamed, has long been a place where everything goes. The city is way too liberal for me, but it is what it is. I may not agree with what they stand for there, but I feel that as long as the city can be fair to all then I can deal with it. It's just when the powers that be deny one group the same opportunities that they so eagerly allow others, I get a bit pissed.

I do not hesitate to guess that if presented with a request for permission to hold a rally, protest, etc. by someone like Cindy Sheehan or some transgengered group, Ms. Coyote would have fallen all over herself to issue those permits no matter what time of day it was to be held. As it was, the Marines were allowed to film on an empty street and are going to have to superimpose the Marines during film editing.

I for one am disgusted. Ms. Coyote has insulted our brave Marines, our military and our country. They are the very reason that she is able to live where she does and enjoy the freedoms that she choose to deny others. She is in other words "a petty dictator" (jeepers, didn't we just hear Mahmoud Ahmadinejad called something similar?).

I don't know. It just seems very, very wrong.
